Dabri - The Genesis
Nestled in the lush plains of the eastern Himalayas, the Dooars region became a cradle for tea cultivation in the late 19th century. As estates took root and traditions evolved, Majherdabri Tea Estate emerged from this rich heritage—paving the way for the creation of Dabri.
A group of visionary Bengalis from Faridpur (present-day Bangladesh) ventured into the fertile lands of Dooars. The Alipurduar Group was formed, laying the foundation of a thriving tea culture. Led by Bidubhusan Samaddar, later honoured as Rai Bahadur, the region transformed into a commercial hub.
A Journey Brewed Over Generations. Founded in 1917, Dabri is one of India's oldest fully integrated tea companies — owning every step from leaf to cup. A guarantee of quality, consistency, and traceability.
After Bidubhusan Samaddar’s passing, his son Makhan Samaddar carried forward the legacy as Managing Director of Majherdabri Tea Estate. This era shaped the estate into a structured and enduring tea enterprise.
Ownership transitioned to Dayananda Agarwal, followed by the MLA Group in 2003. Under Mr. M.L. Agarwal, the foundation was strengthened with advancements in machinery, processing, and packaging.
Under the leadership of Saket and Mayank Agarwal, Dabri entered a new growth phase: • Expanding from CTC tea to global blends • Partnering with luxury hotels & gourmet brands • Growing as a trusted private label tea supplier
Dabri now stands at the intersection of heritage and modern excellence — preparing for the next 100 years.
